Theme and Appearance

Beetlejuice Megaways slot is based on the 1988 Tim Burton-directed horror comedy film, Beetlejuice. The film revolves around a deceased couple who turn into ghosts and haunt their old home, attempting to scare away the new owners. Visually, the slot is brilliant – the graphics are sharp, colourful and have a unique feel similar to the movie.

Beetlejuice himself is present to the side of the grid, and the game uses the soundtrack from the film to add to the magic. This creates a creepy but humorous game that stays true to the cult classic. The reels are filled with various theme-fitting symbols, including stylised A, K, Q, J and 10 royals as the low payers.

The higher paying symbols are represented by Miss Argentina, Shrunken Head, Snake, Lydia and Beetlejuice himself. As you'd expect, the latter is the most rewarding symbol, paying 0.5, 1, 2.5 or 5x your stake for landing 2, 3, 4 or 5 on a payline. You'll also see a Wild symbol on the grid. This can appear on any reel and stands in for all symbols bar the Scatter.

Betting and Prizes

Beetlejuice Megaways slot uses Big Time Gaming's popular Megaways mechanic. This means that each reel can hold between two and seven symbols, providing a maximum of 248,832 ways to win.

The number of symbols per reel changes with each spin and is chosen at random. To form a winning combo, you need to land at least two matching symbols on a payline, starting from reel one.

Whenever you form a win, the successful symbols are removed from the grid and replaced with new ones for another chance to win. This is known as the Cascading Symbols feature. Enjoy one of the widest betting ranges of any slot game, which appeals to both casual players and regular high rollers.

The game is of medium to high variance, meaning you should get medium-sized wins fairly frequently. In terms of prizes, the most you can win during the base game is just over 6,000x your stake – this is achieved by filling the entire grid with Wild symbols.

Slot Features

Like most slots, Beetlejuice Megaways slot comes with a variety of bonus features including Cascading Symbols, the Mystery Symbols feature, the Unlimited Win Multiplier feature and the Free Spins round. Below, we explore these in more detail.

Cascading Symbols Feature

Just like the rest of the Megaways slots, Beetlejuice benefits from Cascading Symbols. Whenever you form a winning combo, the successful symbols are removed from the reels, and new ones drop into their place.

This allows you to form multiple winning combos from a single spin. The cascades continue until no new winning combinations appear.

Mystery Symbols Feature

Beetlejuice Megaways slot features a Mystery Symbol. Taking the form of a ghost, these symbols are used to trigger the Mystery Symbols feature.

When the feature is activated, all the ghosts transform into one randomly chosen symbol for more chances to win. The winning symbols will then be removed from the reels, and the Cascading Symbols feature will kick in.

Free Spins Feature

Throughout the base game, keep your eyes peeled for the Beetlejuice symbol. Landing three, four or five of these anywhere on the grid will activate the Free Spins feature and give you either eight, 12 or 16 Free Spins.

You'll start the round with a 1x multiplier. If you land a further three, four or five scatters during the round, another four, six or eight Free Spins will be added to your tally.

Unlimited Win Multiplier Feature

The Free Spins round also benefits from an Unlimited Win Multiplier feature. Each consecutive winning combo will increase the multiplier by 1x. There is no limit to how high the multiplier can go, so the winning potential here is fantastic.

Verdict

Overall, Beetlejuice Megaways slot is brilliant. The visuals are bold and vibrant, and the original soundtrack gives the slot an authentic feel. Thanks to Big Time Gaming's Megaways mechanic, you can play with up to 248,832 ways to win.
